A woman that attended my event in Fosston MN wrote to tell me………..
I feel you touch everyone you talk to for one reason or another. Your are real connectable to many in ways you don’t totally see. You are raw, open and very well spoken meaning you describe things better than anyone I’ve ever met. You are not scared to be vulnerable and your are very special and rare. Keep sharing your story and being you.

I have 2 boys with drug and alcohol problems which we continue to deal with – they are 18 and 24 years old. Reading your book, was not easy and had to be done over the course of a week in all for me to reflect and take it all in. I want to thank you for sharing your story and let you know that it may be one of the most worthwhile books I’ve ever read.
-Anna

I guess I just wanted to tell you that I think you’re extremely talented, and you definitely have a knack for writing; I know I’m much younger, but once I started I couldn’t put the dang thing down unless I forced myself. As emotionally trying as your story is (I can’t even imagine as I don’t have children), it is incredibly inspirational. I commend you for getting out there, and taking the steps to share your story; a story that is more than likely something very tolling for you..yourself to share. I think it inspires many to speak out, and share in their times of weakness, times of strength, times of questioning, etc. Among the inspiration I have already shared, you have also given me that much more courage to continue writing my own book. You’re so empowering, and I know that sounds silly…but something told me to come to the signing that day, and I still don’t know why. Reasoning is slowly surfacing though.
As for that, I absolutely loved the ending of your book, amazing!
-Debbie

In Spite of Heroin is a journey that takes you through the shattering disease of addiction.Dana Chase writes about her journey that she embarks on with her two addicted twin sons. The emotions of Dana are extremely raw and will bring you into her family’s world of heartache.
Dana articulates her story in such a manner that you rarely see an author accomplish. As a result you will not be able to put this book aside. It’s a must read for anyone that has a loved one suffering from addiction or anyone that seeks to understand how addiction wreaks havoc on the family and society.

I read it in 2 days.. I literally couldn’t put it down.. I cried a lot of tears reading that book. I have a brand new baby.. well he’s 3 months old now. And I just, I have no way to relate to what all you’ve endured.. but it pulled so hard on my heart. I would read holding him, trying to get him to sleep and just think of the life I want him to have. I have dreams for him. Just like you had & have dreams for your boys. And I can’t imagine ever going through what you and your husband did.
-Jenny

I finished your book last night which is quite amazing for me. Being a mom and working full time I usually don’t have the opportunity to finish a book in that short amount of time. I couldn’t put it down. It was SO good.
-Sommer

I loved it, still reading it. I couldn’t stop crying so had to put it down the other night. My boyfriend went through a heroin addiction and it’s all so relevant. Ryder, Avery and I used to play tennis together and I’ve always enjoyed their company so much:) they’ve had me laughing so hard through tennis lessons we’d always get in trouble!
-Ashley

What a journey you and your family have been on. Your optimism, strength, vulnerability and belief system are admirable. I just wanted to find you and hug you while reading the book. I felt a deeper connection with getting the opportunity to meet you.
-Chris

I’m in about halfway and it has already captivated my soul! You write beautifully and the words are purely medicinal. It can help anyone who may be grieving/stuck/going through hard times.
-Rebecca

Finished reading your book today. I am awed by your writing abilities. Awed by your strength. Awed by your capacity for love. Awed by your belief in God and the goodness He brings. Just in awe of you.
-Sheri

I have read it. She has such a gift of articulating and putting it to paper. You will find she has blessed us with her incredible gift. It is as well a page turner you will not have the ability to put down. Enjoy!

Oh my I just finished your book, you are such a strong woman, thank you for sharing this, i cried so many times while reading your story, you could have not written it any better, I ached for your boys and got pissed at the nasty drug that was consuming them, you taught me to never give up , your faith is amazing …. thank you so much , I do hope you will consider a sequel.
-Patrice

This book will keep you reading ~ I found it hard to put down. My heart ached for Dana and her husband for all they went through. Although this story is about addiction, it is equally relevant for anyone going through any kind of distress. Dana found a way to manage her despair ~ and “manage” is the key message throughout this book. I hope there is a sequel. Pick up this book, you will not be disappointed.

From the beginning, you will not want to put this book down.. So gripping and well written. Chase gets to the depth of the epidemic of heroin and what it means to be a parent to an addict. You will walk away with a realization that it does not matter what kind of parent you are, it can happen to the best of us. The emotional roller coaster that this mother went through is a story worth reading. You will not be disappointed!

Thank you for telling your story. There are moms and family members out there that need to hear the raw truth and know that they are not alone. I appreciate your willingness to cope and make it through these hard times by sharing your experiences with others.
-Amber

From one mother to another, I am sure you love your boys unconditionally. They know that, and as hard as their life and your life is, that immense love will get all of you through the horror of this addiction. I pray that their recovery is successful. Thank you for writing about your sons. Thank you for helping many families who need to know they are not alone.
